【英語教室】6. 表示數量的形容詞

中文的名詞沒有可數、不可數之分,頂多只有集合名詞,如觀眾,但英文的名詞不但有集合名詞,還有可數、不可數之分 (見第三單元),也因此,中文裡怎麼用都可以的許多、一些等,到了英文,也就有了分別。

1) Some / Any
 Some:多用於肯定句,但用於疑問句時,則表要求,如: 
 There are some people in the theater. 
 Why don't we make some sandwiches? 

 Any:用於疑問句及否定句 
 Do you have any money? 
 There aren't any people in the theater. 

2) Much & a little / Many & a few
 Much & a little:用於不可數名詞 
 I don't have much money. 
 I have a little money.  

 Many & a few:用於可數名詞 
 There are many people in the theater. 
 There are a few students in the classroom. 

3) A lot of / Lots of:可用於可數及不可數名詞,用於肯定句 
 There are a lot of birds in the park. 
 There are lots of cars in the street. 


【練習】填入適當的數量形容詞 
1.

B: Not too _______. Only _______. 

2. 
A: How _______ apples does your brother eat a week? 
B: Quite _______. He likes to eat _______ apples a day. 

3. 
A: Are there _______ boys in the room? 
B: Yes, there are _______ boys there. 

4. 
A: ______ of my classmates are going for a picnic this weekend. 
B: Really? Only ______ of my classmates are going.
