很久以前,黃樹林裡分開了兩條路,而我選擇了人跡較少的那一條之後, 這個抉擇使得我生命中一切都已經截然不同,都已經永無退路

黃樹林裡分出了兩條路,
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
真可惜無法同時都走上步。
And sorry I could not travel both
就這麼一個過路客的我,佇立良久,眺望極目,
And be one traveler, long I stood And looked down one as far as I could.
遠望其一,看著它的盡頭隱沒在樹叢深處。
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
在同等的機會下,我選擇了另外一條路,
Then took the other,as just as fair,
或許他是個較為值得的賭注,
And having perhaps the better claim,
因為這條路綠草茵茵,更期待著旅客們的路途。
because it was grassy and wanted wear;
雖然如此,這兩條路同樣都已經是過客無數,
Though as for that, the passing there Had worn them really about the same,
只不過,那天早晨,兩條路都覆滿了枯葉,
and both that morning equally lay in leaves
留下被踏過的足跡,一步也無。
No step had trodden black.
唉,另一條路留給下一次再補!
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
但是,明知現在選擇的這條路將不斷分岔出其他種種的路,
Yet knowing how way leads to way,
我深深懷疑是否還能夠再回到目前原處。
 I doubted if I should ever come back.
或許,多年之後,在某個不知名之處,我會這麼輕輕的嘆息說:
I shall be telling this with a sign somewhere ages and ages hence:

而我選擇了人跡較少的那一條之後,
I took the one less traveled by,

美國詩人羅伯特.佛羅斯特有一首非常膾炙人口的詩《未走之路》:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I —
黃樹林裡有兩條岔路,而我—

I took the one less traveled by,
我選了一條較少人走過的路,

And that has made all the difference.
而這讓一切變得如此不同。

#Difference,不同,是一個很耐人尋味的字。
我們會覺得不同,是因為有比較。
和什麼比較呢?
和我們想像中的人生。

人生的路,有一條是腳下的、一路走過來的如是的路。
有一條是「如果當初我⋯⋯」的虛幻之路。

事實上,「不同」是不存在的!

因為我們在生命道路上所經歷的只有一個實相,
路就是這樣走過來的,
無論我們喜歡或不喜歡,願意或不願意。

拜倫.凱蒂說過一句很棒的話:
每個未來都是「無盡」的可能,
每個過去都只是一個「一」 。

凱蒂的意思是說:
對未發生的,我們以開敞的心迎接;
對已發生的,我們感恩,如是接受。

如果我們對生命有足夠的信任,
我們就能肯定這一條路是生命給予我們的最好的安排。
