至於英文裡的類似用法則是”to feather one’s own nest! “。

Laura:I thought the CEO was really trying to do something for the company. Reading the news this morning just made me so disappointed.

Benny:Who wasn’t? It’s too much of a shock to all of us!

Benny:

Laura:I would never have thought he’d been accepting a lot of money under the table.

Laura:

Benny:Yes, in fact, I still find it hard to believe…

Benny:

Laura:Well, the prosecutor has collected quite a lot of evidence against him.

Laura:

Benny:Right, even his secretary confessed to have helped him set up private meetings with some of the business owners.

Laura:Thinking back now, all these volunteer work he did for different NPOs (Non-Profit Organizations) were just to feather his own nest.

Benny:Every time when this kind of things happened, it just made trusting and believing in others even harder.
